There was popular belief
in the  1800’s that these dwellings
were built by the Aztecs or Toltec of Mexico.
They were, in fact, built by the Anasazi Indians
of the Four Corners region. These doorways at
Aztec, New Mexico speak of  passages,
not only of time, but of cultures and civilizations.
Two groups of Anasazi lived here
from the 1100’s to the 1300’s.
Fertile soil and plentiful water sustained
these ancient people who lived in harmony
with each other and the land.
The sky through these doorways symbolizes the future,
bright & positive that awaits all who travel through
the passages of life and learning
with reverence & respect not only for Mother Earth,
but for the ones we share our journeys with.
May your Passage be a good one!
